Severe Freezing on XT1950 PRO

Hey guys, having a severe issue... I keep having a recurring problem. I play Eve-Online and some other games, but mostly Eve...

Scenario 1: I'll come home from work and I turn on my computer... as soon as I boot up, I turn on Eve. The game turns on to the welcome screen and my computer will freeze, and then the monitor will turn off. I have to do a hard reset of the computer and redo the cycle. Sometimes it will kick in and I can start playing and sometimes it will crash again and I have to perform a hard-reset again. Redo the cycle and then I can play.

Scenario 2: I'm playing a game and all of a sudden the computer hangs, and the monitor shuts off, forcing me to do a hard reset, after which I will re-log into eve, play and randomly the same thing will happen.

Scenario 3: I'm playing a game and all of a sudden the entire computer will freeze. Monitor does not shut off, but the whole thing is frozen.

All 3 scenario's happen ONLY when I have a game going. I've tried new ATI driver, old driver, Omega drivers... same thing.

This is NOT an over-heating issue as i'll have the computer off and no heat running in the house for about 9-10 hours. I boot up, 3 minutes later I turn on a game and I get Scenario 1.

Please help, i am really ready to rip out my video card and throw it at my wall... I don't really want to dish out them money for an nvidia right now.

Fill in your system specs please.

Could be any number of reasons, failing psu, failing gfx, failing ram, failing os, failing mobo, resource conflict, driver conflict and the list goes on.

Reinstall your drivers, use the method linked in my sig.

Is your E6600 overclocked? If it doesn't get enough cpu vcore stuff like that can happen...

Only think i can think of would be your psu can't handle the load or something.. have you tried it with maybe a lesser video card?

edit: maybe DL ATITOOL and run scan for artifacts that should make a big load on the video card.. Guess that would prove or disprove some of our theories
