DMI pool data problem

Hi, I'm not new at building machines...however I'm having some real troubles getting an older AMD Athlon Thunderbird system to work (1200 Ghz ).

I wanted to use the PC for an older GIS program but it seems that it's a no-go when I can't get an OS installed.

Ther motherboard is an Abit KT7A-Raid. I can boot, but when I get to the DMI pool data it freezes. If I have a master drive and a secondary drive plugged in--NO drives are detected at all! When I unplug the secondary drive and leave the master plugged in, the system sees the master.

I've checked the connections and took out all extra PCI cards. I really don't have a clue of what's going on or where to start (I tried so much already).

I reset CMOS, made sure the boot sequence is right, disabled the floppy drive etc.

Maybe somehow the motherboard got messed up? It was working in an old tower earlier before I switched it to the new. I was able to get to the OS install screen but it said that the computer couldn't detect a drive.

NOW I can't even get the DVD drive and master hdd to work at the same time. I'm clueless. Anyone see this before?

Reptilematt, check the jumpers on the hard drives. Make sure the primary drive is set to Master and the Secondary is set to Slave. I would also try a different IDE cable for testing purposes. When you unplug the secondary drive, does the primary hard drive show up correctly in the BIOS(not at post but in the BIOS)?
You could always run a virtual on your machine if your just needing to run a older program. VMWare Server is completely free.

Good luck
