Asus P5K Premium & Q9450

Thread Starter
I have recently purchased a P5K Premium board and an Intel Q9450 processor.

I checked out the Asus site and it says it works fine with the new 45nm processors.
As soon as I turned on the system I received a message on screen telling me that processor was unrecognised and that I needed to flash my bios.
I was expecting this and had saved the 0504 bios (the latest according to the Asus web site) to my flash drive. I updated the bios and it is now displaying as the 0504 version.

My problem is that everytime I boot my machine I am still getting the warning message about the unknown processor, please flash the Bios.

I can't do this as 0504 is the latest bios. Does anyone know how to get around this or are Asus going to release a new bios that sorts this out?

Yes, the machine works, I have managed to overclock it from 2.66ghz to 3.76ghz but I am stuck at an FSB of 470. No amount of voltage will get me past this (and stay stable) even if I lower the multiplier from 8 (it's max).
I am hoping that a new bios would get the board to at least recognise the processor fully and hopefully allow me to push it further.

This isn't that old of a design that it should be abandoned now, especially when it says it works with the new 45nm processors. I hardly feel a beeping, warning message when booting up counts as working properly.

Go check out Asus's VIP forums. I'll add a link in a few. Sometimes the users post ftp links to the latest BIOS.

EDIT: Lol., saw your post there. Check this thread out as it may help you.

Thanks for the link MikersSU, I'll give that a try tonight when i get home.

*From further researching, I have found that the P5K Premium isn't compatible with the Q9450.
The rev C0 (which was never released to the market) was, but the C1 which has been shipped isn't.

So, i'm stuck with an incompatible chip, for the moment, until Asus release a future bios update to sort it. Wonderful.*
