Wine/Cedega Problems

Thread Starter
I figured people here would be able to help me more. I have 2 systems and both run Ubuntu. My laptop runs cedega and I get easily 70 fps in WoW and other games. However, I set my computer up the same way and I get 6. Now I run a game without cedega that actually has a linux distro ex: Second Life and my FPS returns to normal and everything works fine. I've tried using Wine to run the game as well with the same results. This is very frustrating. I'm using the same version of Cedega/Wine on each system, same Ubuntu build and the same nVidia drivers. The system that's have problems with Wine is having no problems rendering OpenGL at all with the screensavers.

Try reinstalling wine/cedega; if that doesn't work, try reinstalling Ubuntu. do these computers have equal system specs?

One's a laptop and no they don't....
Same video card though - 7600GS

One has a AMD Athalon 64 3000+ and 1 gig of ram and an Audigy 2 running on ALSA.
Other is an AMD Turion 64 x2 and 2gigs of ram onboard audio through ALSA.

In terms of reinstalling I've done that, same problem exists.

Even though they both have 7600GS's, the Desktop version of that card is going to be MUCH faster. They name the cards the same, but in fact they are very different, and don't perform close to the same. those processor specs and ram probably play a big role as well

I fully agree. The Desktop is the AMD Athalon 64 yet it's running slower then the laptop. It's driving me nuts.
