Thread Starter
im positive i have an A1 im not sure about previous boards but this one has been acting up for 2 weeks and what i noticed the freezing happens more often with alot of apps up like WoW and Ventrilo while listening to cds. It also freezes with no apps running after i come home from grocery shopping 3 hours later

May well be a southbridge issue, although it could also be an unstable overclock (have you overclocked the Q6600?). Fans are good. Heat is bad.

It sounds to me like your Hard Drive is dying.
think it could be a lack of power to the devices freezing the hard drives?

Can you please tell me what the onboard lan controller is for that board. Also which version of the nforce drivers you're using with it?

Edit: Also if you're using RAID what is the raid controller. Also please go here http://www.overclock.net/specs.php to fill out the rest of your specs to make sure nothing stands out there as well.

Thanks

southbridge heat issue maybe (will install several fans today)
failing hards drives (highly unlikely due to the fact both raptors work on my second system perfectly)
lack of power (possible will check power cords)

has not been overclocked at all

Luke video drivers are original from the CD rom evga 8800gtx no raid at all running as for onboard Lan controller im not sure im at work atm i will need to get back to you.

Appreciate your input Gents

Also could be a PSU issue. What's your power supply?

Also try running memtest on your memory, and if nothing shows up, its probably the ide/sata controller on the board.

Not really concerned with your video drivers per say more so the other nvidia chipset drivers. Also are these "system freezes" just the computer stops responding or are they BSODs? Also have you checked the event log?

start > control panel > administrative tools (if you're in category view it's Performance and maintenance first) > event viewer

Then you want to look under mostly system and application and check for the red Xs. If after a lockup you find some maybe make note of those and let us know. That would be very helpful. (Btw if you knew all of these sorry for explaining.)

can you boot into safe mode with no problems/freezing and crashing?

if so i am leaning towards driver/apps conflicting with each other
