It is one of the main ones, yes, I was only referring to the person I quoted in the previous post...

While Sony does not own the majority share of the tech, they do produce majority of the players. They have also been the ones spending the most on advertising due to thier own stand-alones and the PS3. And wasn't it them who specifically funded the final wave of studio buyouts?

All of those things cost money. Its fairly easy to see that any price hike larger than that of normal shipping costs, caused by a small overall increase in fuel costs(which constantly fluctuate, but overall have barely risen much since 6months ago), would be pushed for by Sony. I wont fault them for doing so since its the nature of business. Someone has to pay for all of those things. If consumers are willing to do it, then Sony(and the rest of the BDA) would be stupid to not take what they can get right now.

As far as supply and demand... I've never walked into a store with a low stock of any Blu-Ray player(including the PS3 since shortly after release), so I don't see prices rising from a scarce product anytime soon.

It doesn't make sense for Apple to be on there since they don't even offer Blu-Ray drives on their laptops.

Apple has a knack for predicting(setting) trends. They saw Blu-Ray as the next great tech, so they jumped on board. I'm sure they were just waiting for the competition to drop before pushing it out in thier comps. Its still a very small portion of movie viewing, and not being used for anything in the personal computing industry yet, so there is really no reason to put them into a mainstream-oriented company right now.

There is no reason for price increases unless the companies want to get greedy.
Recouping development costs? It isn't free to make these things you know. They probably sold them at below costs until HD-DVD lost, now they are just making up for it.

Your first sentence sounds more like an adolescent child with a personal vendetta to solve than colloquialism, either way, neither belong in the news section. If you want your hatred of "PS3/BR" fanboys to be known, go start a thread in the proper section, because this isn't the place.

Furthermore, I refuse to believe that manufacturing costs have increased without proof. Logic says they should be decreasing due to increased demand and the fact that the technology is no longer brand new. Essentially your entire second point is moot, and you're just pulling an Inquirer.
Import taxes no, but the cost of fuel has been on the rise and is expected to hit all new record highs before this summer is done. Do you think the companies are going to eat that cost or pass it along to the consumer? Also, you have to consider the value of the American dollar, or the lack thereof I should say. Both of these have an impact on the end cost of all IMPORTED merchandise.

Lets start with the source from the article you linked from:
http://www.tgdaily.com/content/view/36428/113/
Which, by the way, the flagrant error of using non-consistent data went overlooked even when commenters mentioned it. Just leave the blinders on though so you can believe what you want to.

I am not sure where you buy gas at, but where I am the cost of gas, regular by the way, is about 20-25 cents more then it was 6 months ago. Also, as the summer draws closer, expect those prices to go up even more, as is the trend for the last couple years now.

It's funny that you do the exact same thing you accuse me of doing and act oblivious when I point it out to you. You can't just make blatant accusations and assumptions, and restate someone else's points acting like they are your own and pretend you've won...scratch that - you can pretend that you've won, but no one in their right mind will believe it. You also need to learn to read, because I specifically told you to post articles that weren't old (3 weeks is old for this, especially since their data doesn't include the beginning of the month - but I guess you don't care as long as you can make your empty arguments). Either way, what I posted was news and belongs in the news section regardless of my comments on the article or subject. If you can't deal with it then it sucks to be you.
