Email notification when RAID fails?

anyone know of a program that will email you when or if your raid fails. the machine with the raid is using an intel raid controler that is on board. this is the board. Thanks!

Are you expecting your RAID to fail on a daily basis?

no, but its for a security system machine for a bank, and they want to be notified by email if the raid fails.

I suppose it would need to be a web based monitoring program unless you are running an OS on a seperate hdd.

Could you not just have something which pings the machine every, say, half an hour, and if there is no reply then that sends out the message? If the RAID fails, the PC won't still be on.

Nagios could probably handle that.

I know it can monitor if a machine goes down, or (I think) if it switches to battery backup (ie you loose power and a UPS takes over).

It runs off a dedicated (usually linux) server.

Several clubs (run by the same guy) use Nagios to tell when machines go down, and it sends them a short text message when it goes down, and when it comes back up.

well i mean its running a raid5 so i mean if like 1 drive fails not all 3.
