ok i have disconnected all psu leads to test that everything was working, i bridged the green wire to a black wire on the large connector. i checked the fans were working, then i hooked up the pump, it pumps round for a couple of seconds before the psu shuts down. i then have to turn everything off remove the power cable. i put it all back and it does the same and shuts off. any ideas?

Not always I ran mine and it just beeped and beeped and said error no fan warning of overheating until i set it to ignore in bios

also the light on the pump no longer flashes when i turn it on is there a way of checking both my psu and the pump?
Just reinstall it, its sounds like mabey that mobo is on auto shutdown or something. Maybey it thinks cpu is overheating.

reinstall the old air cooler? what i dont get is ive connect the old air cooler up (just the connector) and when i push power it twitches but the pc doesnt start up. i thought that if it was a problem with the board sensing no fan, connecting the connector from the air cooler would atleast allow it to boot?

Then its something screwey with the pump and/or PSU under load.

Try resetting your CMOS. It sounds like your PSU could be bad and when your pump is on it adds just enough extra load for the flaw to show up. If the all the motherboard lights are on and fans and the pump is shutting off and the pc is not booting I'm thinking maybe it could be overheating as well. Try also giving your TT pump a little tapity tap tap sometimes those pumps need that. You can also try plugging your pump into the where the cpu fan would go then the motherboard would read the pump rpms and think a fan is plugged into it as well.
