How do I go about double OS?

Hi guys,
Recently I've started gathering money to get myself some new faster memory and also 4GB of it. Because of that I realize I have to install windows 64 bit. And since I will have to reinstall everything again, I thought that I should install double operating systems (XP & Vista) since XP performs better in games.
Problem is; I don't know anything about installing two operating systems. If I could get some sort of guide for that, it would be great . Also I have a couple of questions:
1. If I run double operating systems, do I have to install programs & games, twice?(for each OS)?...
...2. Can I just make three partitions (2 small, one big) and install Vista & XP and then keep my stuff on the third partition?(is that how it works, or not?)

Thanks,
Alex

1. Yes

2. Should work as long as the stuff your storing in the 3rd partition isn't programs, but rather music/movies/pictures.

Here's a guide http://articles.techrepublic.com.com...1-6157570.html

My suggestion would just to run vista. If the only reason your doing it is because the very minimal performance increase in games, don't bother.

Dual boot Linux instead! LOL

If you have a halfway-decent system, the performance differences between XP and Vista in games is insignificant and not worth the effort.

Thanks for the replies guys, I guess I'll just stick with Vista Ultimate x64 with SP1
