Well I cant really do much to upgrade my computer any more as i just got a new laptop. This desktop now is pretty fast overall considering its components but it's still sitting at 1.6ghz, and i really want to make it faster.

My current specs:
Motherboard: ECS K8M800-M2 (socket 754)
CPU: Amd Sempron 2600+
Graphics Card: (Sapphire) ATI Radeon x1650 (AGP)
Memory: 1.5GB DDR 400
Cooling: Stock...
OS: XP Home Edition SP2
HD: 180GB

If neccessary i can get more cooling i think thats about it. Any ideas are appreciated thanks!

Unfortunately, there's one problem. In order to overclock your computer, you need a good chipset. You have a VIA chipset: bad idea! You will at least need a better motherboard before you can do anything, and I know that for I have a VIA chipset in my MSI board. SO, I'm pretty sure you're going to have no luck there, sorry!

Upgrading ram is the most sensible upgrade.

Sorry, I think only ddr2, but ddr2 is cheaper then ddr, so you could pick up a couple gigs for $40 or less

Im looking for something at tigerdirect. They got CPU + Motherboard deals, and i dont want to order it online theres a tigerdirect retail store near my house. I was thinking this one:http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applicatio...501&CatId=2417

So yea, i guess i am upgrading but i only want to change the mobo and processor, not the graphics card. So i need a good processor (amd x2) and a motherboard that has an AGP slot for my sapphire x1650. You think that one is good or is there a better deal at tigerdirect?

I'm sorry to ask this, but why don't you want to buy through the mail? I bought my entire sig rig through the mail, and everything is great! I got it all from NewEgg too (well, most of it. 3 parts were from 3 different OCN forum members, and 1 was from a different online store, or e-tailer, but it all turned out perfect).

You may be able to save a grip of cash if you shop with an e-tailer. And plus, you don't have to spend any money on gas, or taxes. You just sit in your house and wait for it to come to you.

First you will need a new mobo ,then a processor ,some ram ,better graphics cards, some good hard drives, and a cool case. That should get you started.

Here are all of NewEgg's Motherboard/CPU combos just in case you find something you like there.
