If you're looking for gaming, shouldn't you be going Vista? After all it is the only version of windows that has DX10.

ya but from bench's and stuff Vista kills performance i hear, though i may be wrong its what im reading and seeing. Vista presumably drops your system performance by 10%, and DX10 features cripple PC's, e.g. Crysis....

Though i may be wrong, im just going by what im reading and trying to make headway of it, hence me asking here

The drivers currently available suck real bad and we all know this, just dont wanna suffer ater i make te jump if ya know what i mean.

Are you going to be running Benchmarks all day long, or do you want REAL WORLD performance? My vote is Vista, lol, however that's not the point of this thread.

Since the 3870x2 is a brand new card, I'd say it'll more than likely work better in Vista once the drivers mature. That's just my guess though.

Well, of course DX10 will 'cripple' PC's. It's more demanding than DX9, but looks better.

Overall, performance in Vista is slightly less than XP, but with hardware as powerful as it is, you'll never notice the drop in performance.
yea like i siad im running it in vista now from what i hear the XP drivers are just as bad as the vista 1ns saying that my GPU hits a Higher 3dMark than yours running vista. i dont have a problem with any game in vista also the sp1 smoothed it out alot not what i hoped for but its alot better.

If im honest you should be in vista anyway if your a gamer your card is meant to run DX10 fast you basicly have a card your half using. thats my thoughts

It'll run fine in XP. Just be aware you cant crossfire two of these cards in XP. That can only be done in Vista. A single card will probably max out anything in XP, minus Crysis.

Thanks for all the replies. I might Load Vista on and see how it goes, oh and in terms of benching i was not referring to 3DMark benching scheme rather a XP vs Vista bench i read somehwhere where Xp was out performing Vista in virtually everygame. Hence the reason i started this thread. I guess the general consensus though is to upgrade to Vista, so ill give that a try and see how it goes
