geez man what do you run?? Just now I had firefox running, pidgin, adobe premiere (editing a video), and Maya rendering a mental ray movie and I wasn't even using 4 gigs lol. I ran out of processor before I even hit 4gb of ram.

Memory should not be a concern to anyone now thats its so cheap.

On topic; however, I don't believe this launch date will be met. Plus I don't like the fact vista will be replaced so soon.

The chipset drivers are only for xp. It wont let me install them on vista(b/c my board is old).

However, i don't think that is the problem. When i open task manager to see where all the processing power is going, it is usually trustedinstaller.exe. I looked that process up and i couldnt find an explanation of what it actually does or why it runs a lot.

TrustedInstaller.exe has to do with the vista UAC. It allows for standard users to act as administrators to install certain things.
EDIT: Also has to do with windows update, Whenever it's utilizing 100% of your CPU usage, That usually means its checking for updates via Windows Update. You can turn it off through adminstrative tools. Just disable Windows Module Installer. But only do this if you plan to regularly check for updates manually.

If you ask me, Windows Se7en (pronounced: "Win-dow-s seh-seh-ven-en"? ) is a crap name for the next windows. Just Windows 7 or Windows Vienna would be great IMO. I'm not sure if i want to jump from XP to Vienna as much as i once thought i would, the reason being is that W7 is rumoured to be subscription based, which I really don't like the sound of to be honest, even though it would cut down on a lot of piracy on Windows. We'll see I guess, but I'm not really in a hurry to switch to Vista.

Didn't XP first come out in 2001? Are people seriously planning on using it NINE YEARS afterward?

I love Vista, but if I'm still using it in 2017, punch me right in the nose.

Yes. Not all of us can afford to buy new operating systems and with the Windows 7 release cycle being as short as it is, a few of us were tempted to skip Vista and just move to 7 when that came out.

Also, as much as i like Linux, my graphics card isnt supported right now. So as much as I'd like to I can't run it.

Microsoft are releasing new software waaaaa waaaaa waaaaa!

Stop crying like babies and accept that technology changes and evolves.

Vista may use a good amount of RAM and the more RAM you have, the more it uses. It scales the usage so that you can work faster. If your killer game of Super Mario Bros. requires RAM, Vista will re-allocate accordingly.

Stop crying about RAM usage. This is 2008, not 1998.
