$150 PS3's????

Thread Starter
According to an article on PSX, Sony will be coming out with a non-Blu Ray player system to be sold for $150. Hoax for April Fools or an actual REAL offer panning to be released in August?

http://www.psxextreme.com/ps3-news/2822.html

I have owned one before, sold it, and have my own Blu Ray player...I can say that I would buy one. The system has EXCELLENT graphics and Sony had always had a good lead and trail in games. Will this hype the PS3 sales out the window?

You do know that in about two years, PC's won't require optical drives??

Heck, you can get by without an optical drive even now...

A PS3 without a BR drive, and good compression techniques, is a totally viable option, and I hope to god it's true...

I say a bunch of BS too...as IDEAL as that may sound to us all...a PS3 for $150 bucks? That's what a lot of USED PS2's go for...I would love it if it was true.

Again, this unit will not feature a Blu-ray drive, and if you're wondering how you play games on it, Sony has a simple explanation for you. "The broadband world has expanded considerably," says Aperelli Doorichka, Public Relations Coordinator for SCEI, "nearly 85% of our PlayStation Network users and PlayStation 3 owners access the internet via high-speed cable or high-speed DSL service."
Isnt it a little late to be playiing april fools pranks?
