How do I cut fan holes in the top of my RocketFish?

Thread Starter
As the titles says! I want to put 2 120mm fans in the top panel of this case but not sure the best way to cut them out and have it look right. I want it to look like this but not sure the best way to cut and have it look good. Would a jig saw with a metal cutting blade be the best way to make the straight cuts or should I use a rotary tool? I like the way the square holes look. I am pretty good with tools so I'm up for most ideas! Thanks

I'd cut a "starter" hole and then use some tin snips. Probably the safest way.

I've read two threads of people messing up with power tools just in the past couple of hours...

1st off ur gonna need a template and then a good circualr drill bit yes they do sell them that big or a rotozip even a jigsaw w/scroll will work. w/the jigsaw and circular drill u need some ok sill but with the rotozip u need steady hands.

u ever cut anything that close w/ tin snips PITA don't even go this way it'll come out fawked up.

if i were u and unsure about it get CD to cut it out for ya. or take it to a metal shop they have all the tools there just give them the template i'm sure they won't charge u that much buy 'em a 6 pack of beer.

I have a circle cutter that's adjustable. It's meant for duct work, but I use it for speaker holes and it cuts metal.

The panels to the rocketfish are aluminum. The bit says it will do aluminum, so I"m hopeful.
