Potentional Upgrade. Critiques? - Page 2

AMD X2 6000+ and Corsair 650TX. It is still a nice rig so I would save money for next big upgrade.

Thread Starter
Thank you very much everyone for convincing me to well, not upgrade. I think the only thing I will be upgrading is my monitor as it is old as dirt.

+Reps for you guys.

I would recommend the following changes:

G.SKILL 4GB(2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1000 (PC2 8000) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory - Retail $94.99 (Cheaper then the 800 set you posted and gives you some great OCing headroom)

Western Digital Caviar SE16 WD6400AAKS 640GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive - OEM $129.99 (Based on WD's new 320Gb platters... One of the best drives for performance!)

I'm not familiar with the MOBO, but I think you could do better there as well.
LOL

The DFI DK P35 is one of the best P35 motherboards there is, that statement was a bit ignorant, its an awsome board, and people get very good overclocks on it, your also gonna get better quality than an ASUS board

Stick with the DFI, its awsome

I'd suggest going with 1066MHz RAM and downclocking it to 800Mhz, then freeing it up as you OC to garantee the RAM isnt gonna be an issue

To each their own m8... I only made the comment because there are other P35 boards that are coming down in price. Yes, I am an ASUS fanboy ... It was not because I was ripping on the mobo though! I still have my DFI board up & running my A64-3200+(as it has been for about 6-7 years) so I know the quality product they make (even though there has been some hiccups on some of their recent boards).

What sucks is marmite

Enjoy your day!
