400x8 OK, 400x7 = no POST?

Thread Starter
I'm trying to raise the FSB in my signature's system. I want to overclock the memory at a 1:1 ratio since it's unstable at 960MHz even with 2.2V (6:5 ratio).
It was running at 3.2GHz 1.416V. Despite the fact I could boot at 410x8 and, despite the fact my overclock became suddenly unstable today, with the same settings (it was 8h prime stable), I noticed I couldn't boot at 400x7 no matter what I do.

Some low multi's simply don't work on certain CPU's.

you may have hit a fsb hole with the 400x7 settings.

Like Mhill stated not every CPU can use every multiplier.

Hmm...

I'll try to use 6 instead of 7 so... but I'll get too low clock speed...
What's the max FSB for this mobo without raising NB or FSB Voltage?

Well youll have to find out. Why not raise your NB and fsb voltages. Its less risky then raising your ram or cpu voltages. I wouldnt be surprised if you cant go any higher then 400fsb with stock voltage.

You also have to look at that some cpu's and some mobos as stated dont do good with non native mutli's or ones as low as 6. I cant run with a 6 mutli very high either.

Also some cpu's have a fsb wall but I dont know what they are usually for the 2140.
