the 9550 should be able to overclock to 3Ghz or more, while the 9500 might be lucky to reach anything above stock speed.
The TLB errata is a problem with the L3 cache not any of the cores. The B3 stepping is the fix for that problem. There are some post in other forums about a problem with some Phenoms with a cripple third core but that a different problem.

From what i have seen the old fastest Phenoms were faster in the Q6600, although suffered badly in gaming.

The topic is "new Phenoms on Newegg"; by bringing in your comparison you opened up another topic of discussion. This is what you did:

OP: New Phenoms on Newegg!!

You: The E8400 is better

if that's not off topic, I don't know what is.
It does bring up the price! What do you want us to do? Say, "Ahh isn't that nice."?

This sort of discussion goes on in every single thread. Comparing alternatives and competitors is perfectly natural. Why are you so upset about it?

Did you even read what I said:

Hate to say it, but I think the E8400 @ $180 (TankGuys) is a much faster, cheaper, cooler, and more power efficient option. Unless you have a Phenom compatible motherboard...

Yes... They are selling it.... Are we supposed to come here and aggknowledge that they're selling it and bow our heads?

What exactly would be appropriate comments for this thread, as i am still getting used to TOS here.
Ignore these guys. They are just super sensitive about anything critical to AMD. I don't know why, but they are. There is nothing wrong with discussion the competition.

Again, stop with the sensitivity. I claim that the E8400 is a better purchase. This is not bashing AMD it is suggesting reality. If you disagree why don't you offer me an argument, not a complaint.
I'm not being sensitive... If i was being sensitive I would say something more along the lines of "Shut up AMD owns you" or "wahhh, why are you always bashing AMD"
Neither of which I said, or even came close to saying, I simply made a statement, and that statement was emphasizing my dislike of Intel Fanboys.

And if you look at some real benchmarks, and take off your Intel(R) blinders off for a few minutes, you'll see that that the phenom stomps the E8400 in all apps that utilize its 4 cores, hell even the B2 (no TLB fix) phenom X3s stomp the E8400 in multi-threaded apps, the only time the E8400 beats the Phenom is in applications that only use 2 or less cores, and it only does so because its clocked at 3.0ghz, which is 700mhz faster than AMDs fastest quad.

Stop being so intentionally stupid Paul, and I say intentionally because you know the real deal man, you know exactly where the Phenoms stand, but apparently you just like to exaggerate things to make Intel look better

So, I suppose what really needs to happen is you need to stop being so passionate about a company that you have "no relationship with" (to quote your previous post)

Power consumption is pretty amazing. The 45nm quads use less power than the 65nm duals!

Your above examples are not of someone sensitive, it is someone that is just flat out rude and immature.

Wow... the B2 9500 is only $168?!? That's actually not a bad deal considering the errata has a small chance of occurring and the B3s doesn't seem to have fixed getting higher clocks or better OCability.... yet.....

I could call you Rude an Immature too, but the fact is, I wasn't being either of the two, so stop trying to be such an elitist dink. You have this attitude about you that you're better than everyone else, which simply isn't the case, we're all equal here on OCN.

and good job cherrypicking dual-threaded apps buddy, why do you think it is that a 6400X2 is keeping up with the q6600? and on another note, I just realized you posted two power consumption benchmarks.... who cares about power benchmarks? why would you even link those, just to show off some graphcs where intel beats the phenom?

again, you know the truth, but you continue to try to puff Intel up, for only god knows what reason.

I was not calling you rude or immature. I was saying that someone who made the claims in your example would be. But really, it is silly to argue about it.

Have you ever played Supreme Commander, it supports and uses 4 threads. The Q6600 is NOT beaten by the 6400X2.
