The E8400 is faster than it... so I suppose it is competing with that....

There is nothing wrong with accessing the value of this product compared to its competitors.

Again, stop with the sensitivity. I claim that the E8400 is a better purchase. This is not bashing AMD it is suggesting reality. If you disagree why don't you offer me an argument, not a complaint.
It's because you hurt his feelings
Seriously though, I don't see why people get so bent out of shape because someone states a fact. I wish more than anything that the Phenom would spank (or at least compete with) the Core 2 based CPUs, but the fact is that it can't.
Maybe next time around......because if it doesn't then we're doomed to pay way too much for Intel CPUs.

Not really, if you overclocked the E8400 to 4GHZ which is a pretty average overclock for it on air and compared it to a 2.5GHZ phenom 9550 the E8400 would trail right behind it in fully multithreaded applications or it might be a tie and the E8400 would be way faster than it in non multi threaded applications. I think that anybody that takes offense to pauldovi's post about the E8400 being the better chip is the true fanboy since it is the truth after all.

um you're over-complicating things.

theoretically, No 2 people are equal and therefore we could make a list of everyone on earth, from some objective "best" to "worst". everyone below the median person is below average, and thats one person away from half of the list of everyone on earth. therefore 49.9999% or whatever of people are below average.

I can't even imagine how you would argue with this (i'm sure you'll find a way), its a JOKE (the concept).

So, what exactly is the point of posting a known truth and complaining when nobody can prove you wrong? How many AMD owners on these forums do you think do not realize that intel performs better? I highly doubt you are typing these posts to enlighten the ignorant.

You can't define value for someone else, only for yourself.

Talk about paradox statements. If its better for multithreaded apps, like you mentioned then how can it be the better chip overall? Clock for clock, a quad will always beat a dual-core in multithreading

The one i want is on the egg now.

For Pauldovi :

http://www.legitreviews.com/article/682/1/

Looks pretty good to me. Bounces between above and below the Q6600 when the Q6600 wins however the gap is larger. If you already have a AM2/AM2+ board looks to be a great choice, otherwise i would probably suggest the Q6600.

Thats because this thread wasn't a comparison between processors. How hard is that to understand, you people like to state facts well how about acknowledging that simple fact first.

-Everyone knows Intel chips are faster at stock speeds and are better overclockers;
