Not much really.

Slackware has no package manage (well it kind of does, but now adays most don't consider pkg_tools anything)

Arch is i686 and x86_64
Slackware is i486 (but includes flags to optimize for i686 if it can, something a lot of people don't know) (as for 64 bit, look at slamd64 and bluewhite64)

Slackware is a bit more stable. IMO

yeah thats about it, they both like to keep things simple, even it that interferes with user friendliness.

just make sure you have a solid working WIRED network connection.

other than that, just dive in and learn to swim. Slackware is a great OS, you will not be displeased.
