Confused with overclock problem...

Hey guys, I've been having some issues with overclocking recently, and the results are leaving me confused. Before I start, here is my system:

Gigabyte GA-965P-S3 Mobo
Intel E2180 CPU M0 stepping
3gb OCZ DDR2 800mhz ram (2x512mb + 2x1024mb)

Heres my issues: With my stock cooling, I had a stable overclock at 3.1ghz on 1.35V and the temps I had 45C idle and ~70C load. I installed my new heatsink (Gemini II) and I noticed a drop in temperatures as suspected. But then the issues come.

I try to use the same settings as I had with the stock cooling and the computer doesn't boot up (doesnt Post). Then I try to step it back a bit. I set my setup to 300x10 so 3ghz and I set the voltage on Auto, just so that I can get it running. I click save and then it restarts, but once again the computer doesn't boot up, doesn't post. I unplugged the power cord in the back, wait 10 minutes, plug it back in then the computer boots up with the overclock in tact, so it loads up with the 3.0ghz. But the speaker thing on my mobo is going off. Its just one continuous buzz/beep and I have no idea why. The computer is stable and the temps aren't anywhere near dangerous.

Whats going on? Not only that, even simple overclocks like goign from the stock 2.0ghz to like 2.5ghz give me problems, when with the stock heatsink never gave me problems. I made sure that heatsink is good and all that and that its installed properly. Why all the fussiness?

A continuous beeping noise is a single that at least one stick of the ram is bad. I would make sure the ram voltage is set high enough, and maybe bump it up a notch.

By the continuous beep your talking about, do you mean like beep(pause)beep continuously or just one beep goign on forever? Because for me, there is not pause, theres just a beep that doesn't stop.

And I just ran a few more tests and its messed me up even more.

I set the multiplier at 10x and the CPU Freq. at 300 so 300x10 = 3ghz. I set the voltage at 1.375V, more then enough. I set the system memory multiplier to 2.0.

First time I run it, computer doesn't boot up. I take out the power cord, while about 15 minutes, put it back in, the computer boots up fine with the overclock stable and there is no beep/buzz anymore. I go to restart the computer, and the computer doesn't boot up, forcing me to take out the power cord again and wait a bit. Why does it do this? Works after I remove power cord and wait, but not when I restart or power down and power up myself.

I meant single constant beeeeeeeeep.

Its definiteyl a ram issue. if you can, take our one stick and test each stick in different slots to identify if there is a faulty stick or a faulty slot. First though, make sure there's enough voltage for the ram.

Haha you couldn't be more right. I should have looked into it a bit more. I added a +0.1V to the DDR2 thing, and bam problem gone and everything is running smoothly. Thanks a lot!
