Zalman 9700 S Clip Too Tight

Thread Starter
I am installing a Zalman 9700 on an Abit IP35-Pro MOBO with an e8400 CPU. With everything assembled as per the instructions except for the final connection of the S clip to the support ring the ends of the S clip are approximately 5mm above the top of the support ring at each side. Is this normal? I'm concerned that the force required to pull the ends of the S clip to the surface of the ring when the screws are tightened will break something. I've done a search and others have complained that this mount is too loose. It seems I may have the opposite problem. I may just be overly cautious but I don't want to break anything.

I believe that is normal. Mine was also like that.

you have to push fairly hard to get the other end down into position. you shouldn't have to push extremely hard, but you have to give alittle umph.

its normal

On one side just START the screw (don't screw it all the way in cause this gives you less freeplay) then screw in the other side and finish the first side

Thanks,

I tightened it down and nothing went crunch. System booted and runs fine. As you may have guessed I'm a first time builder.
