Smoke !!!! - Page 5

Sorry for double post.
I've found the manual.
Have you tried turning on the motherboard using the onboard power button?
Anyway...The 2 led's show when the voltage regulators and cpu get too hot.
Are you sure you have the heatsink down all the way. Id there any movement in the heatsink?
In other words. Likely chance is your cpu is overheating. 2nd most likely is the board is faulty and one of your voltage regulators blew.

Which light is it?
-The one nearest the RAM
-Or the one nearest the CPU

Found on the intel site for your board.
Quote:
Turn off all peripheral devices connected to the computer.
Disconnect the computer’s power cord from the AC power source (wall outlet or power adapter).
Remove the computer cover.
Locate the battery on the board (see figure below).
With a medium flat-bladed screwdriver, gently pry the battery free from its connector. Note the orientation of the “+” and “-” on the battery.
Wait one hour then replace the battery.
Replace the computer cover.
Plug the computer and all devices back in.
Do you know which light it is that flashed. The one nearest the memory slots ore the one nearer to the CPU

Well...I have my doubts it will work but gotta try everything first. Smoke is never a good sign...

Theres no such thing as good smoke (well only on one instance, theres always one exception that proves the rule )

Maybe a voltage regulator burnt out ... does the board have any physical signs of burning?

i hevent taken it out of the case to inspect. im at work doing this and acting like im working.

i have taken a look at it, to see if there is anyting ary. but cant see any burt/melted parts on the board, unless it can only be seen from the back or if its to small to see with a quick inspection in the case !

When you installed the motherboard in the case, did you use the standoffs that come with the case? I've seen people making that mistake before...

It might actually still work. My old DFI also started smoking while it shat (past tense of shut? ) down. It was simply just a fan header that blew, which disabled the header for the motherboards life, but everything still works perfectly on it.
