Smoke !!!! - Page 6

The only time I like to see smoke is when I see it rolling off the back tires of my car.
Hope this isnt too expensive for you.

:facepalm...You did use metal screw in standoffs right? not just mobo on bare metal?

And it took until the 5th page for someone to mention this?? Christ, I should have stayed home from work today! Nice catch Chozart.

Yes, I'm almost willing to bet that you have unwillingly grounded your solder points from the back of your board against your case.

Don't ask me how I would know this...
(No, I haven't fragged a board doing this, but yes, I came damn close.)

wow. everyone juse gave up when they realised you didnt use the standoffs.

Most computer cases dont mention the installation of them. Best thing to do when learning is have someone who's done it before supervise you. I was guiding my mate and he was going to install the mobo on the single "guiding standoff" that comes preinstalled in some cases....

Extended ATX mobo supported by one pin.... nice good thing i was there.

Time to take it all out of the case. Place the board on a flat, antistatic surface, and install the CPU + cooler, a single stick of RAM, and the video card (nothing else). Connect power cables and the video cable, and try to boot.

See if that works. If not, it might be RMA time for the mobo

Sorry about that.
