Flashing 680i LT SLI with 680i SLI bios versions - recommend?

Good Afternoon:

I have read on evga forums and elsewhere that people have loaded xfx bios revisions on evga mobo's and with good results. I have also read that people have flashed p30 / p31 version on an LT instead of the p06 or p07.

Is it worth flashing the bios with the normal SLI versions? Will it help with more stable overclocking since I really am having no luck with my q6600 on my 680i LT board (stuck at 3.0).

If it isn't an issue for the flash what bios has given the best results? evga or xfx? p30, p31 or p32?

Thanks in advance.

Hi again,

It has been done as you say, and I read the same on the eVGA boards too a while ago...but I'm not sure if you will get the benefit as you hope of being able to OC higher (going from LT BIOS to regular 680i BIOS). You will get more control over your volts (finer increments and in more places). Not sure on the XFX BIOS.

So what happened after the advice we gave you earlier this week on your other thread? Update please as I think you may have some options left for you there before you go messing with other types of BIOS (you could make things royally worse if the flash dont 'stick'!!).

I could not get ANY overclock until I flashed my 680i LT with the P32 bios (which I chose rather than P31 because of the Wolfdale support). I get a comfortable 1GHz OC with the P32 bios. See this post for my settings.

Thanks for the info. I flashed to p32 had problems at post... said screw that...went back to p07.

Now with p07. I have gottend a successful overclock at 3.3ghz prime95/occt stable. I had to up the vcore to 1.5250 in bios to get there however. cpu-z reads idle vcore of 1.5 and underload we get a great little vdroop to 1.45. However temps never raised above 62 degrees under full load for 24 hours.

I'm saying its successful for everyday use until i learn otherwise.

Thanks for all your help.
