First Time Overclocking GPUs - 8800 GT (2 in SLI)

Good Afternoon:

I am looking to do an overclock of my 2 evga 8800 GT's in SLI mode. I have riva tuner and am running driver 169.44 (32-bit). I haven't downloaded ATI Tool but I will. I'll download GPU-z as well, since I like CPU-z. My PC is watercooled (Q600 CPU And both GPUs)

My stock settings are 600/linked/900. I have looked for a step-by-step guide in regards to OCing GPUs and haven't seen one.

I know how to adjust the 3 sliders in riva tuner however what settings should I start with?

Should I unlink core and shader sliders and also do i need click the save info at the bottom for performance and standard 2d to load upon windows start?

How much should you bump up each slider each time? do you do one first...stabilze it... change the second...etc?

Also how long do you generally run ATI tool while trying to find your max?

Lastly, what is a decent oc for this type of setup.

Sorry about all the noob questions. If I saw a guide about this I would have used it similiarly to the info I found about OC'ing CPU and Mem.

Thanks so much in advance.

You should be able to get around 730/2000 on those cards easily with watercooling. Generally if a card is unstable, it will artifact right away, so it's not really necessary to run the scanner for more than a couple min. Running through all your games is a much better test for stability.

when you say 730/2000 what are you referring too: 730 core clock; 2000 memory or shader? based on 2000 im gonna assume its shader clock.

if that is the case what should i start out with on the mem clock?
