Thinking of upgrading next month...

Thread Starter
i'm thinking of doing a small upgrade next month from a 7600GT XXX to an 9 series. but i don't know which one to take, and if i should even upgrade now instead waiting for some better cards to get released (dunno if there are any coming).

i'm thinking of getting a 9800GTX, but for that money i also can get SLI 9600GT. so i'm not sure which one to get.. any advise ?

If you're not aching to spend money right now I would wait till summer when 9900 cards come out.

8800 GT = best price/performance

8800GT is 190 a piece, getting two is 380, hmm and a 9800GTX is only 300 (9600GT = 150).

hmm have to think about that, maybe getting one 8800GT the month to ease the costs.

when will be the 9900 or 10K series released ?

I wouldn't buy the 9800GTX, it's not quite living up to all the hype. I would suggest sticking with a 8800GTS(G92) or 8800GT rather than go for the 9600GT also, the 8800 series is an incredible value: price vs. perfomance-wise. It also depends on if you want the card right now?.... or are you willing to wait it out till summer?... If you want one right now, I'd go for the something from the 8800. An 8800 series SLI is pretty hot still.
Here's a freaking awesome deal for a 8800GTS (G92):

If you only wanna pick between the 9800GTX or the 9600GT I'd definitely rather go with the GTX, even though it's not getting alll the hype atm, is still a LOT better than the 9600.

I went from a 7600GT to an 8800GT and it was a huge difference. The 9600GT is slightly slower, but will still be a huge step up for you. I think you will be more than satisfied with any of those cards. My advice, get an evga 9600GT, then step up later if you like.
