Insane temperature?

Thread Starter
Hello, I am pretty new to overclocking and I need some help with monitoring my temperatures. I have an e6750 processor running currently at manufactures setting which is is 2.66 ghz (why does intels TAT tell me my cores are at 2133 mhz? Can someone explain this to me?) Anywho recently I over clocked my processor to 3000mhz (according to TAT). On TAT I hit workload lvl 100% on both my processors and watched my temperature climb. It hit 45 C in a matter of seconds. Then when I stop the test it quickly goes back to idle temperature. Is this normal? It would seem to me that it should slowly gain temperature and slowly cool. I have also tried diffrent programs to monitor my temperature like speed fan. The reason why I am not overclocking my processor anymore. It said that the Windbond W83627DHG chip was really hot and had that little flaming icon next to it.(like about 50 C) I have a P5GC-MX/1333 motherboard from ASUS. I was wondering should I be worried about this? or should I ignore it? I will post some screenshots if you guys need them.

Thank you in advance!
luca

Uh what do you mean by intel saying its 2133 MHz? Overclocking on software can corrupt files so overclocking in BIOS is more reliable. Press the Del key rapidly on startup. Also fill in ur systems specs in user cp (u can see this on top of the bar link watever so we can help you better. Did you up the Core voltage NB voltage MCH voltage FSB etc......

Ok I use intel's thermal analysis tool and in the box it shows me frequency (mhz) 2133. And the way I overclocked is I went into the bios then jumperfree configuration. I changed cpu frequency from 333 to 375. Need a screenshot?

Instead of using TAT, use Coretemp and CPUZ. TAT was meant for mobile chips, not their desktop counterparts. Get screens of both of them when you download them. That will be a lot more accurate.

You have to understand whats the difference between operating frequency and fsb/cpu freuquency. The operating frequency is the total speed your cpu runs. fsb is the front side bus and is applied by the multiplier to have a full external clock speed. So a 300 fsb x 8 multi = 2.4 GHz. You know if ur system stable or not? Use Orthos:
ORTHOS
And yes I do need a screenshot Also fill in ur system specs in user cp as I mentioned before. User CP

Ok So I overclocked my processor again, ran orthos, cpu-z and core temp. Also I noticed when I was idling my core voltages keeps going from 12.60-1.336 V and my core speed keeps changing from 22251.6 mhz to 3002 mhz. Here is the link to the picture:

Also, please be patient with me. I am still young and learning everything about computers.

Lol you have hyperthreading on.
Go in BIOS and under Chipset options, turn off hyperthreading. C1E, and all that crap.

Ok I disabled C1E support, but the closest thing I found to hyper threading is hyper path 3 in chipset settings. Is that it? Also is there anything else I should disable?

HT and C1E are the same thing.
I have no clue what hyper path 3 is.
But ya, go check. Voltages and Clock speeds shouldnt be dropping any more

Just turn off CIEST and all that crap.

@ arekieh: C2D's don't have a hyperthreading setting in bios.
