The Breakdown

What else do i plan to buy for this computer

120 Internal HD
...........
I am using a 2400 HD PRO PCI card, and this is the card which i plan to keep for this computer. However if i am able to find this card:

I will buy the 8500 GT as my final GPU upgrade on this computer.
...............

Dynex® - 5.1-Channel PCI Sound Card

..............

TV Wonder Card, the 200 series or 650 or 600.....
Thats it........

The other breakdown

I plan to buy a new computer in a few weeks. I have 800 dollars to spend on it, even tho i am guessing i will spend about 300. This will be my secondary computer for the newer games and so on......

Does everyone understand now?
no. why use it as a secondary computer. just use it as a main computer. you have a crappy rig right now and you need to STOP putting money into it. your just wasting more and more money.

No. Stop investing into that computer and put all your money towards a new one.

Dude, this computer works perfect , from the PSU, to the monitor, to everything else why would i just put it aside when i buy my new computer?

That make no sense. I could see if the computer was broke or something, then yea i will see a reason, but the computer has been working just fine. Infact, ever since i upgraded from windows98se to Xp home edition sp2 it works faster now. My second computer is just for the things which will not work on this computer, new games, new software, etc. So i will have one computer which plays my old games just fine, old software and one for my new games and software.

Also, getting rid of old stuff is not the way i am. You know i have a gaming room in my house. From left to middle to right:

" Sega Saturn( 25 games, 2 controllers, 4MB ram pack ), Sega Dreamcast ( 75 games, 4 controllers, 4 memory packs ) , 3DO ( 30 games, 2 controllers ) , Neo Geo ( 20 games, 3 controllers ) "

The Middle = 19 Inch tv, and a Big screen 42 inch tv

" Xbox ( 60 games, 3 controllers, Mad Catz Wheel ) , Nintendo 64 ( 16 games, 5 controllers ) , Playstation one ( 14 games, 2 controllers )
...................................

In my living room IS where my computer is:

Gateway EV500 600MHZ INTEL PIII, with 436 games......

Unlike some folks, all because something new is out, doesn't mean i am going to stop playing my older stuff. And i will be stupid to get rid of it all. I still play my Sega Saturn and Playstation and dreamcast more then anything in my house, expect for pc and xbox gaming.

If your current system runs your older stuff fine, why spend money on upgrading it?

Take that money and put it toward the new system, or just save it.

You talk about saving old things and not wanting to get rid of things, and someone with that mindset is usually a cheap person...not a bad thing, but cheap none the less. The money you are spending on this old machine makes no fiscal sense at all. That computer is not an old car, it does not gain value as you add to it or upgrade it. Listing your old consoles is not a good example...they play games that are designed for them...not games that are.....what 6 generations ahead?

You will be spending OVER 300 dollars on PCI cards if you upgrade again...that's just not good decision making...especially when they will all be lateral moves unfortunately.

Do what you wish, but people are not going to understand your logic unfortunately....it just doesn't make sense...

Although I'm not gonna hate on ya for it...what ever makes you happy

Hm, it is totally nonsens IMO to buy an Geforce 8500 for this computer. Your 2400 HD graphic card is already waiting for data from your P3. So a better graphic card will only have still more time sitting in your old computer waiting for data... This would be rather boring for your new 8500...

Does this mean that you're aiming to turn it into a HTPC? That possible with a PIII? even with a card that will decode?

Anyway props for getting crysis to work, I feel like I've wasted my money on my last pc now, should've gone straight from the K6-2 to this one.
