Seen it with both 680i and 780i boards.
Further after getting windows installed you still get random BSOD's due to the SATA optical drive, once again after switching out to a PATA one everything works fine.
I have to ask about the 680i, because that is as far as my personal experience goes. I've owned a couple, and even with 2 sata dvd burners and 2 hard drives in raid 0, I've never had a problem, (and all I run on my gaming desktop is XP).

Same here. I have a SATA DVD burner and I even installed the drivers from the nvidia site, it's all good.

Sounds like it's not entirely Nvidia's fault. It's probably because this driver and another one conflict or something, or else we'd all have this problem.

Or its just one of those things that are picky about showing up?

Like on Sims 2, some peopel get issues galore and wait for a patch before they get a new expansion pack, and some people have the game work flawlessly out of the box.

Nothing in computers is "picky about showing up". It's about circumstances - like in WoW, a patch could cause issues for some, but for some the game would work flawlessly.

If the problem can be repeatedly reproduced on the effected computers (and this one can), and cannot be reproduced on even one computer, then the problem isn't the patch (or in this case, the drivers).

Something else is causing it.
