different x-fi modes

Thread Starter
i got a x-fi xtremegamer. using the latest drivers from creative. i know its got the entertainment mode, game mode and audio creation mode. i've always just kept it in entertainment mode for listening to music and playing games. what exactly happens when you switch its modes? is anything actually changing or is it really just a kinda preset type thing?

most of the settings in the entertainment mode are in the game mode...

i find that game mode give more of a direct sound instead of a soft sound that entertainment gives. its more boomy and crisp.

theres a big diffence.. there are some options in a game that does not let you turn on unless your on game mode and when your on game mode you get more sounds....like if i play counter strike and play it under entertainment mode i wont be able to hear the bullets wiss by my ears when it miss my head......i hear it under game mode...

Game mode enables all your EAX effects - those are not available in the other modes. I like to use Entertainment mode for movies for THX stuff and AC-3 decoding. And I use audio creation mode for music - with bit-perfect playback enabled and ASIO in my media player, I can be certain I am getting as pure an audio stream as possible.

hmm... i've never heard that in game mode. Since i'm on Vista, would i have to make the game enabled in Creative Alchemy?

Correct - Without Alchemy, you won't have EAX effects at all so game mode would make no difference.
