<-EVGA-> Stepup Confusion...

I wanna upgrade me 8800GT through the stepup program, i have like 74 days left and registered on the site etc

On the EVGA site i have N/A for price paid

So that aint good

When i click the lil' stepup button, it tells me to enter how much the product cost when i bought it, which was £138

It has to be in Euro's though

So 138 x 1.27 = 175 Euros

I want to stepup to a 512MB 8800GTS which is listed as 359 euros!!

Thats £282 - More than a 9800GTX

What is going on?

Is the stepup program just completely useless for people in the UK?

Thanks for anyone who can shed light on this, its really looking like a deadend

I noticed this on the net

Quote:
Product must have been purchased through an authorized reseller, retailer, e-tailer, or distributor of EVGA products in Europe. Only "E"-Products can qualify for Step-Up in Europe. (i.e. 256-P2-E517-AX)
Which mine does have an E in it, but stil... £259 to upgrade from an 800GT to a GTS, thats almost £100 more than the GTS costs to buy normally, what is wrong?

You pay the difference between the price you paid (on receipt/invoice) and the MSRP (not retail) on the EVGA website.

There's nothing wrong with it, that's just the way their step-up works. For example, the 8800GTS G92 is $359.99 from EVGA.com. If you bought an 8800GT for $200, you will have to spend the extra $159.99 to step-up to it, regardless shops are selling it for.

Thats epically lame because EVGA don't update their prices since release

For the difference between my 8800GT and an 8800GTS i'd be paying £144...the price of another 8800GT - when really i should be payin around £70-£75

What a ripoff...

I aint going back to EVGA again

This is just poor.

its only really useful if your going to upgrade to the brand new cards, that are retailing for the same as the MSRP value.

eVGA doesn't change the MSRP value ever, look at the old 6 or 7 series cards they are still really high price, its retailers that slowly drop the prices over time. IMO the Stepup program isn't useful at all unless your going to upgrade to the next series flagship card, otherwise its useless.
