The PS3 sold more in its 1st year than the 360 did in its own first year. It did it while competing with the Wii and 360 (360 had a year alone! and Wii was a smash hit) AND being the most expensive console by $200 AND including a high-definition format whose continued relevance was in question until just months ago. That is one good position they have forged for themselves, and no one can deny that there are better things coming. 2008 will be the year of the PS3.
There are better things coming obviously but the PS3 didn't sell more in its first year, it equaled 360's first year. It sold more WW in 2007 than the 360 did and stop making excuses for the PS3. Its coming off the heels of 2 dominate previous-gen consoles, it has the brand recognition whereas the competition(Xbox) doesn't. Its going to sale off its name alone, regardless of the quality of games. Now that 2008 is looking good, we should see some great things from the competition

It's close, but VGChartz puts the PS3 on top.

The PS3 seemingly has sold thus far on promises... there isn't a single really good exclusive out for the PS3 year (with the possible exception of Resistance...) All I hear are "wait for MGS4", or "GT5 is going to be awesome", but none of these have been delivered. Given that, I'm actually surprised how well the PS3 had sold.

I myself have actually gone from being a fan of the 360 to a fan of the PS3. Now that we know Blu-Ray is the winner, that makes the PS3 all that more valuable. Plus, I like how the PS3 doesn't have a 16% failure rate or large-scale overheating problems.

The tides have turned and "punching themselves out" is a great way to put it when it comes to what Microsoft has done.. What is there too look forward to on that system now that all the MAJOR releases are out?

People always say the 360 have the best games... I don't think this argument applies nowadays, Sony is shelling out much more varied exclusives... FPS and sports fans should still go for the 360, but Sony has the big end of the stick on the rest...

I know this is a bit fan-boy-biased, but I gladly challenge anyone to put up 360 true exclusives against PS3 true exclusives.

Y axis, I'm assuming is how many consoles were sold, or how much money was made off of the sales of those consoles. X axis would be the date.

WoW if i only had a nickel for everytime i hear this.

Xbox Live is a infinately much better than PS3's online system. And it is only $50 bucks a YEAR!. Thats around $4.16 per month and $0.13 per day.

Start saving a dime everyday and you can pay for the xbox live.

Fable 2, GTA IV , Too Human , Ninja Gaiden 2, Alan Wake, Halo Wars, Gears of War 2.. Yea i am definately sure Xbox 360 is going to tank this year

After owning an Xbox360, if given the choice between a 360 or a PS3, i would definitely choose the PS3. Yes there are some features to the xbox that i like (windows media center extender, movie download, but i don't use the download) but compared to the PS3, the PS3 (for me) gives me the better options.

Yes, but xbox live is full of those little kids who have nothing better to do than run their mouths and talk crap. I'd rather have FREE!!!!! online gameplay without some features, than pay to play mature games with little 7 year olds.

Plus

With Blu-Ray winning over HD-DVD, i think PS3 sales are likely to pick up, as people see the PS3 as a better option, compared to a standalone Blu-Ray player.

buy a Blu-Ray payer AND a console, or buy ONLY aPS3, and get both of those. Which one seems more economical?
