360 may have used up alot of it's great exclusives, but sony needs to realize that they can't keep theirs held up forever.
This is all opinion. I and many others feel that the PS3's current lineup has already surpassed the 360 on exclusives. I recently bought a PS3 and have only touched my 360 once since, only because my friend was begging me to play COD4 with him. These threads are pointless since everything is based on opinion and it just becomes a mud fest.

i loved the windows media connection between my 360 and comp, until i realized upon tinkering with my PS3 that it connects even easier(and faster) to my computer's files. So i don't miss that about the 360. The store definetly needs the overhaul it's getting in a week, and better friends management(why can't i view messages in game?)

long story short, ive had a hard time with sony and i dont trust anything they make anymore, and blu-ray is way to expensive
hmm to expensive? i have 5 blu ray movies and haven't paid more than $18 for any of them, which includes "Sunshine," and "I Am Legend," both fairly new releases. You just have to know how to shop instead of walking into a random store and picking it up off the shelf.

Also, that's just bad luck on your part. Anyone could have those problems. I for one have never had any Sony product fail on me and that is after 4 PS2's, 3 PS1's, a PS3, 5 TVs(standard and HD), 3 surround systems, 2 cd players...get the picture? It's all just luck.

One, Sony isn't forgetting the Wii, it just isn't competing with it, so why talk about it? Yes they are both game consoles, but they are going after different markets. 2nd, There will not be another xbox for awhile because M$ is losing to much with each console launch to just throw consoles out ever few years. Sony extending the timeline is more benefical to both companies money wise, but they will be lacking hardware wise, if not already...Atleast the PS3 has BR.

Yes, but xbox live is full of those little kids who have nothing better to do than run their mouths and talk crap. I'd rather have FREE!!!!! online gameplay without some features, than pay to play mature games with little 7 year olds.

Plus

With Blu-Ray winning over HD-DVD, i think PS3 sales are likely to pick up, as people see the PS3 as a better option, compared to a standalone Blu-Ray player.

buy a Blu-Ray payer AND a console, or buy ONLY aPS3, and get both of those. Which one seems more economical?
Thats gold. What makes you think that PS3's online system have these so called "mature" kids.

Listen, when people go on multiplayer, they do not give a crap about what they say because there are no consequences for saying cuss words. Every system has their "Kids who need to wash their mouth".

Have you not played PC games? Counter Strike? Oh god, CS is even worse when it comes to stupid kids randomly cussing players.

I think we can all agree each platform has its fair share of annoying users. But personally, I'd rather not pay for it, I don't care how inexpensive it is.

I'm not usually one to delve into the depths of a good old console war here on OCN, but I can't help but think that the PS3 will pull far ahead in the coming year.

I'm no where near a PS3 fanboy, I own a 360 and love it. But I can see now that the PS3's graphics are becoming superior, the game lineup is becoming superior, and the downloads including PS2 games and movies that are being talked about within Sony, its shaping up to be a far better console than the 360.

Unless of course, microsoft pull their fingers out and start offering some truly customer-beneficial features. Maybe dropping the price on Live! from £40 to £20. Maybe admiting that Blu-Ray is far better and has won the format war, then in the interest of customers releasing an addon blu-ray drive.

Sony had to drop PS3's price twice to entice customers into buying the system. So far microsoft dropped the Xbox 360's price by 50$ max in United States. Obviously, Microsoft is trying to maximize its profits before it has to to do another price drop.

And when they do actually get around for a price drop, the arcase console will definately be cheaper than the Nintendo Wii

I agree. I've always said the PS3 has a fantastic (even superior) lineup of features and games, some available at launch and some years away, but I never ever would have said that the PS3 would sell more consoles launch-to-year than the 360.

$50 is $50 more than free dude. $50 is another new game, $50 is a DS3 controller, $50 is a couple Blu-Ray movies.

Gee, that's funny. Usually when a company drops a price, its a good thing for consumers and nothing to complain about. For one thing, they didn't really drop the price, they simply discontinued a couple models and released two new ones that were cheaper (unlike the 360 Elite). This probably means that the new ones were cheaper to manufacture in some way. Remember that the Blu-Ray drive had a $200-like number attached to it in terms of manufacturing costs. Cell had something along the lines of $90. This was in a thread on OCN. Everyone knows that brand-new optical disc players and microprocessors get much cheaper to manufacture as time goes on, either because of simple mass production or better yields.

Conclusively, I believe that Sony's lineup of PS3's was significantly cheaper because the consoles themselves were significantly cheaper to manufacture. Remember that Microsoft and Sony's respective gaming divisions each turned a profit for the first time in a long time at around the same time, a few months back. It's easy to see that Microsoft cut many, many corners as far as manufacturing goes, as evident by their abysmal initial failure rate. I don't even want to know how much Microsoft lost (and is still losing) in that fiasco. They simply could not afford to sell consoles for less. I mean, if I was a Microsoft executive in the middle of the RRoD situation, I wouldn't exactly allow the gaming division to cut the price of its flagship product.
