Newbie looking to OC a new build

Thread Starter
Hey all, I'm a bit new around here, but I've been building a new PC lately, all I've got left to pick up is my input devices, OS, and replacement air cooling for the stock. Anyway, I'm looking to overclock a good chunk of this PC, particularly the CPU (Q6600 G0) once I've got it up and running, and was hoping someone would be able to give me a bit of a run through based on my specs. Never done this before, but I've read up alot on it, and think I have some of the basics down, but don't really want to go off on my own with this quite yet.

A majority of my PC is in the System specs, but I'll go ahead and list everything here (courtesy of newegg of course )

Owned:

Video Card: GeForce 8800 GTS

To be purchased:

Fans: 4x Thermaltake A2018 120mm (3 for case, 1 for heatsink below)

CPU: 1x Thermalright Ultra-120 Extreme

I think this heatsink + fan combo should be sufficient air cooling to at least get the CPU to 3.2 if not 3.6, but a little unsure.

first ,disable speedstep ,c1e,eist.Some good settings are [to start with]9multi x333,vcore 1.36+-.01....ram at that point should still be at stock voltage.youn shouldnt have to add voltage on anything before that .It will make at 3.0Ghz.after that it gets more trricky with the power settings and ram timings. But go with it if your pc gets unstable past 3.0 add a LITTLE vcore or ask for more help.Good luck!
