Let me say it simple.

GPU does more math operations per second than a CPU. (about 100 instructions is the set of a GPU)
CPU does more things, more complex , interrupts, branching, IO handling.. etc. (About 800 instructions is the set of x86,not x86-64 , just new x86 processor)

Both are specialized, and if it's possible one to emulate the other, the result will be horrible. Exclusion can be the Larrabe, or whatever it was .. because every single x86 Larrabe core is specialized in math (calculation). (single way exclusion, because Larrabe hasn't got the full instruction set of x86)

Although CUDA is C it is highly restricted and the GPU can still only process certain CPU data and not all of it. Hence it just can't act as a CPU, ever. It lacks the instructions, if an application (such as F@H) is made for the GPU however it can run in place of a CPU but applications designed for the CPU won't work.

I remember duckieho putting it like this:

Get 100 high school students to do 500 addition, multiplication, subtraction, and division problems, and they will do it much faster than 5 mathematics professors.

Get 5 mathematics professors to do 50 5th order ordinary differential equations, and they will do its much faster than the 100 high school students.
