Need help please

Thread Starter
ok so i have a HP Pavilion Media Center TV m8013w Desktop PC i just put it into an Antec 900 case for better cooling. The processor is still heating to 66-79 c when playing games (mainly WoW). Could anyone give me a suggestion on how to help cool the processor?

My second problem. When i was switching the cases i forgot to look where the audio ports where plugged into the MoBo and HP doesnt hep with that. But i did put 2 and 2 together and plug it where i thought it should go but the port aren't responsive and when both (headphone mic) are plugged it it turns the whole system off. SO i just kept the audio ports unplugged from the MoBo.

Can anyone please help me?

you should get aftermarket cooling(bigger heatsink and fan)also you might try reseating your stock one.probably need something better. If you want to ask questions you fill in system specs in user cp.

Open the case up and make sure the fan is spinning first of all.

You have an HP motherboard meaning you are at stock settings. You shouldn't be anywhere near 70c playing WoW, as that isn't even full load.

thanks you two. i did some digging its a socket AM2 and the heatsink and fan are seated properly on the cpu. theres even enough thermal grease. now the cpu always did over heat even before the antec 900 case. so i should just get a better heatsink and fan for the cpu as suggested?

If I were you I'd try to reseat and reapply thermal paste first. No point in wasting money on a cooler if you don't need one.

Yes a better heat sink would be my first thought as well. Then you can go from there to see what else you might do to cool it down.

Why get a better heatsink if he's running stock? The stock heatsinks are designed to cool it at stock speeds.

Knowing HP, they put on a huge thermal pad and installed the heatsink like poo.
