since when? I mean think about what you're saying: 3-4 times? Under what benchmark? Are you talking about synthetic benchmark "points" or are we talking about real-world applications?

Because even the most powerful Core 2 Extremes are MAYBE 3 times faster than a Sempron 2800+ when transcoding a DVD9 to DVD5.

Which by the way, the 6400+ beat the Q6600 in this benchmark.
You scroll through the list of benchmarks used on that site (I found it very helpful when choosing a processor). Now try finding a benchmark where the Q6600 is 3-4 times more powerful than the 6400+.

And the 6400 is also cheaper FTW.

It's really quite a shame that AMD is no longer on top and I really hope that they get their act together.... but that doesn't change the fact that Intel has the edge over AMD:
their 21xx series are great cheap dual cores that OC nicely
their C2D lineup offer better performance:clock (and clock up higher) in comparison to AMD X2s (and even tricore phenoms from what I've seen)
lastly, their Q6600 and other Quads have been highly successful in comparison to the PHENOMenon that turned out to be a bust

Speaking from a completely objective stance:
Stating that Intel has the edge over AMD is simply stating fact and not fan boyish
Throwing a fit when this fact is brought up IS totally fan boyish...
I agree wholeheartedly. Way to defend yourself bud.
Just a comp.

I suppose I over-spoke a bit.

Make that 2-3 times more powerful than the 6400+. Assume equal clocks on the Q6600.

Wow, interesting thread. Cheers! Intel beats AMD clock for clock, but I would wait and see what kind of real world performance the new Phenoms provide. You know people on this site are going to buy these. Let them try it out and then you make your decision. Also the Q series of Quad Cores are suppose to be getting a price decrease soon. Well I hope they do. I'll try to find that info for you guys. The price decrease will be around April 20th.

I'd get the 6400+ and drop it in a 790FX motherboard. Then you have support for 4 graphic cards in CrossfireX, If you are into that kinda thing.
You wont notice much of a diference in speed besides benchmarks.

My X2 3600+ at 2700 mhz lags compared to my E6400 at stock, and at 3.2 ghz the E6400 decimates

Also the Intel Quads overclock great, around 3.6 ghz

Where the Phenoms are only pulling a couple hundred mhz (under 3 I think)

So a oc'd q6600 will destroy a oc'd phenom
