first off make sure you have good cooling. and install a way to monitor the temps constantly like "speedfan" or "motherboard monitor" (google is your friend) to start off turn up the fsb like you were doing but make sure the ht stays around 1000 if it gets to high you won't boot (had that prob before when i started tinkering). watch temps constantly and if you can unlink your memory then do so. so when you turn up your fsb you don't start overclocking your memory (overclock your memory separately) do a search to see what other people are commonly overclocking your processor to and if they kept the cpu voltage stock or not. for cpu voltage search to see what the safest maximum is that people are comfortable with (it differs from chip to chip and manufacturers max recommended voltage is conservative). you won't need to adjust that until you get the fsb up a bit, when you up the voltage the temps will rise fast so keep an eye on that. go up small increments at a time and if it doesn't boot then reset the cmos and back down the fsb a step. check the ht to make sure it didn't go to high and bump up the cpu voltage a bit if its not to high. when you get your fsb around 400mhz you might run into undervoltage issues with the fsb/nb just make sure to do your research to make sure you don't overvolt to high and fry everything (google your northbridge to find max voltage). every chip is different so what you get and others get will differ. thats a really quick guide covering the basics. temperature and overvolting are your main enemies so as long as you keep them in check you should be fine.
theres a good guide from the best forum on the internets! http://www.overclock.net/overclock.p...king-guide.htm
i like to use orthos for stress testing, it gives pretty good control and i like watching the duration ticker :-P

Aloosh, the K8M890 is a VIA chipset. VIA chipsets aren't exactly the best overclockers around. I do however believe the 890 chipset allows locking of the PCI bus. By locking the bus, you prevent data corruption and other weird abnormalities from occurring when you start to overclock. If you haven't already, I'd recommend reading over this AM2 overclocking guide. It's very helpful: http://www.overclock.net/amd-general...ocket-am2.html.

If you can, please add your system specifications to your signature. By doing this it lets us know what your running in regards to hardware. Go here to do this: http://www.overclock.net/specs.php?do=addsystem

Good luck
