Q9450 OCing Question

Thread Starter
Before I get everyone jumping on me saying, "You can't OC that thing man, the multiplier is too low" and all that, I just have a simple question. I know it isn't a great overclocker and I knew that when i bought it. I am just wondering how far I can push this thing.

well......since you multi is locked.......you'll be limited in FSB.....but, i've seen 4GHz+ on air stable......but that's like 480MHz+ so be careful

Now that you bought it, why don't you let us know the results? You can't expect to ask us how it overclocks when we decided not to waste money on this chip. Most of us are waiting for a decently priced 9550/9650 here.

As soon as I begin my trials with overclocking I will post the CPU-Z validated results.

I had been planning on buying this thing well over 6 months. I am doing to push it as far as I can. Performance wise, even at stock I am still in love with it. I just want to find out how far I can push it while maintaining stability.

I managed to get 3.6ghz but I'm mobo bound at this point. depending on how well your mobo wants to play you might be able to get around 3.8ghz or so.

Yeah, I thought there was something going on with that.

Anyways, if 3.6 Ghz is a possibility, or even 3.8, then I am more than pleased with this CPU. I am coming from a Single Core AMD Athlon 64 4000+ and I just upgraded to the q9450 a few days ago. This is already a huge step for me and I will be more than happy with 3.6 ghz stable.

Thanks guys!
