Q9450 OCing Question - Page 2

being you have the x38 chipset on there I would assume that 450mhz FSB shouldn't be too hard of a problem for you.
I believe I have seen some with that board getting around 470mhz FSB or so which should put you in the 3760mhz range.

either way as always good luck and post some benchies for the rest of the members out there

I certainly will man. Thanks for all the help.

I remember I chose the parts in november of last year, a lot of people advised against the q9450, and even the maximus formula mobo, but I must say I have been in the OCing game long enough to know that taking risks is just part of the game.

I am very satisfied with my choices when it comes to my new hardware. If you look at what I came from, it is easy to see why. The CPU already blows me away, OCing it is just icing on the cake.

My current 3dMark06 score was over 10k which was a step up from before, but I have not yet OCed my video card on this new setup which I plan to do straight away, nor have I even tried to do so with my CPU. Time will tell and I will give updates on my progress with the new Q9450.

Alright, as of right now I am bumping my head at anything above this:

I would like to max it out at 3.8 and run it at 3.6 24/7.

I am going to continue this later when I get back. As of right now, I am having trouble over 3.44 ghz.

You really have to start playing with the voltages once you start climbing in the 400 fsb range, I'm able to get a stable 3.6GHz (450 fsb) with:

vcore: 1.21v
VTT: 1.55v
MCH: 1.65v
vdimm: 2.2v

Any higher than a 450 fsb requires much higher VTT and MCH voltages for me to even get into windows. I tried a 455 fsb but can't seem to get it stable.
