My mistake.

But the whole system was inferior with less RAM and a lower clocked, lesser CPU.
However, I concur that especially in Crysis a 8800GTX/Ultra are superior. But that is not the case for most games as was demonstrated in Tom's review of the 9800GTX. A 8800GTX was slightly behind the 9800 in most cases. If you were to use an Ultra though, it would beat the 9800. This is at stock vanilla speeds though.

One of the reasons I like the 9800 too is the much lower power draw, though that might not be as important to most.

Very true. I just wish they would have made them with more memory and a bigger bus lol I mean what women told them smaller is better? lol

So have anyone looked on a 8800GTX with 630/1500/2100 OC vs a 9800GTX OC?
Mine is 630/1350/2000 in stock so it makes no sense when they do a vs. on my card since they always use the 575 series...

I used to own a Q6600 for my first play through Crysis, and a quad DOES make a difference in average framerate. Slap a quad in with that 9800GTX and then see who comes out on top.

That said, even though I own a 9800GTX, it is only really good for resolutions 1680x1050 and below. I would go with the 8800 in this case.
Actually on my quad I went from 48fps to 70fps with my e8400. Proof

8800gtx has a 384bit mem interface, vs 256bit for the 9800gtx.

8800gtx also has 768mb ram vs 512 on the 9800gtx.

the 9800gtx benchmarks are similar or worse than the 8800gtx, which is older, and still better. in this comparison i think the 8800gtx is superior. I would say wait till they release a decent card in the future.

9800GTX will have to try harder to get past the 8800GTX, more than a yeear have past and the 8800GTX/Ultra is still the winner
