Poor Performance on 9600gt - Page 2

Well, the 26a that nVidia tells you is for a full system. The 9600GT will not use all 26amps. It will use closer to 10amps at full load maybe even as many as 12.

How many amps does your 300w PSU have on the 12v rail?

I play at 1024x768. I noticed a big incresae in proformance clocking my dual-core from 3.0 to 3.5Ghz.

Buy a new CPU and don't install it w/o upgrading to a new PSU. Do this and you will notice a BIG differance. If you put a new CPU in that setup you system would prbly be unstable due to lack of power. I'm surprised it's stable now.

What socket type is that mobo?

I'm suprised a 9600gt will even boot up, let alone perform well on a 300w psu.

The first thing you should do is get at least a 500w psu.
