Silent ~600W PSU

Thread Starter
Hi there
I just sold my Cooler Master RP-650 Extreme Power because it was quite noisy. It wasn't that loud, but I'd like to leave my pc on during the night, and because I sleep near my computer (lol sounds like a geek ) I need something more silent.

I already layed my eyes on Zalman ZM600-HP. Reviews are good and Zalman is 'famous' for creating silent stuff.

Does anybody recommend me something else? Or discrecommend me the Zalman?

Thanks in advance!

My OCZ gameXtreme is silent. Now the best PSU due to the ripples, but still very good imo. I've had it for about 2 years.

A friend of mine has a recent OCZ PSU, Kill me for not knowing which one it is, but he told me he thought his PSU was quite noisy too. Maybe OCZ increased there quality during the time he bought his? It's not modulair either, but that's not top priority for me.
Nobody expierence on the zalman?

Edit.. I just read reviews about the StealthXStream and it's not silent in their opinion :O

In the StealthXstream’s case there was one comment which dominated all others: many customers were receiving this power supply and finding it had a VERY loud fan.

Thinking these were isolated cases, we fired up the power supply….and discovered the customers were right; the fan noise was bordering on extreme even when the computer was sitting on the desktop. This was not a case of a problem with a bearing in the fan or the blades causing a vibration in the housing. Rather, it was the loud “whoosh†of a fan with a malfunctioning fan speed controller. If we had not read the posts on the forums, we would have gone about assuming that this was one of the few units with this problem. Luckily, we did our homework and have found this problem again and again when people speak of the StealthXstream 600W. It is not a problem with ALL of the units but it is common enough to warrant mention in this review.

I can't risk getting a loud one, this is the first reason I sold my first one. And I think regular shops don't take the warrenty for being loudly.

Well, it is 500w, but the Antec Earthwatts EA500 seems to be pretty good.
I have the 380w version of this and is almost completly silent.

The Antec TPQ-850 looks to be a good choice also.

I have also noticed that 80%+ Certified PSU's seem to be quieter than most others.

Thanks for your reply too, i'm now reading reviews of it, but it seems it has a 80mm fan, which is in most cases louder that a 120mm fan.

And I can already give a No for the OCZ StealthXStream, too many reviews saying it's noisy.. Too bad

Silent is toppriority here

Yea, the 380w I have has the 80mm fan also, but it really is quiet.
Sometimes these things seem like a crap shot.

Seasonic all the way. I had an S12 before my silencer and it was noticeably quieter than my silencer and very stable.
