ATI 2900 pro overclocking

Thread Starter
When I try to overclock my 2900 pro the cpu speed/mem does not stick - it always reverts to its original settings.
I have a Tagan 1300w psu with 8 and 6 pin pci-e plugs plugged into the card but I still cant overclock it. Does the same with Riva Tuner as well.
Does anyone know why?

Do you click 'apply' then 'apply settings with windows startup'?

Do you have like 3-4 2900 Pro's btw?

Ive 1 2900 pro and on the Riva Tuner I select the 'apply settings with windows startup' and nothing happens.
On ATI Tool I move the sliders and click 'set clock' and the sliders return to their default setting.
Im running on vista x64 sp1, 4gb ram, 9850 phenom, gigabyte ma770-ds3 mobo

Hmmm, I used RT with my Pro and it worked fine. I would try re-installing drivers or try a different one.

I was using the latest RT and Ati Tool, Ive just loaded Ati Tool and the clocks dont make any sense - in the 'Profile' box is says 507.00/0.00! The core and memory sliders show nothing. Perhaps this is an issue with Vista 64 bit.
Ive just tried the AMD catalyst Ati overdrive and I set it to 'Auto tune' and it says its overclocked to 845/898 (gpu/mem) but in the 'current clock settings' box it says 507/514 for gpu/mem! So I dont know if that has overclocked or not.

you have 3d clocks and 2d clocks. the 507/514 are your 2d clocks.

vista 64 might be part of your problem. one other option you might have though but it is a little more risky is just to bios flash it with the speeds of your choice. only problem with that though is if you get an unstable overclock it makes it a little more difficult to fix.

if you want though look fo quantum force bios editor and atiflash.

other then that I would say need some help from others here with vista 64 experience.

I have been trying to flash the bios to a 2900xt but dont know exactly how to boot into dos as vista and xp dont have this option.

I have checked out sites saying to format a usb stick with the hp usb disk storage format tool but when I select the 'create a dos startup disk' option it asks me where the dos system files are and I get stuck there as I'm using vista. If someone could help me out here that would be top.
