Not even 2 weeks in, one of my 2gb Ballistix die

Thread Starter
So I've had my sig rig running since the last week of March and already one of my 2x1gb 1066 sticks of Crucial Ballistix died. Got some strange errors in XP and then after a reboot, XP blue screened before reaching the desktop. I had the sticks set to SPD voltage and timings and only had it overclocked to 1100 for a few days before deciding to send it back down to stock speeds.
Running on the good twin right now, waiting until (hopefully) tomorrow to hear back from NCIX about my RMA.

Crucial is pathetic. Not even 2 weeks with these sticks. I've heard nothing but bad things lately about their ram dying, after hearing nothing but good things about their overclockability.
I bought this ram on Feb 13 while I was collecting parts for the sig rig. Any chance I can get a refund for this ram from NCIX?

Anyone have any suggestions for overclockable ram that won't die on me?

I didn't have them overclocked much at all for very long. I bet I would still be RMAing them even if I had them at stock voltages and timings for short amount of time they were in my possession.

I don't think I'll be buying Crucial anymore. I could understand if it was just a bad batch, but I've heard plenty of stories about this ram dying after a short period of time, even at stock timings and voltages.

I hope not all DDR2 ram is this bad. I was able to overclock the **** out of the DDR400 in my opty rig.

It seems like a lot of these sticks have been dying recently. Maybe they got a bad batch of IC's? You could always try a different brand...

But don't buy Corsair either.

Corsair is overpriced from what I've seen and heard. I was thinking G.Skill or Team Xtreme. Thoughts?

EDIT: Just noticed, you own a few sticks of Corsair. Had some RMA issues as well?

The first set i bought seemed to fail within 2 weeks. I think iremember reading on their website something about if they last 30 days your in the clear or its not as unlikely they fail within the first thirty days if they are crap or something.

Although they came highly recommended i dont think i would purchase more. The replacements i got are DUal sided so maybe if its true these will rock for a while, well see. Sorry to hear about the crappy ram

If i buy something else i was thinking corsair or muskin is muskin good ??Some people say gskill is good to them, good price perf ratio ??

"Crucial Ballistix died" Been hearing this a lot lately, I love my Ballistix but if a stick went bad right now I would be looking at another brand for replacement. Shame really, they have a lot of die hard fans. Hope they get it back together.

I bought them because I heard they were the best overclockers. But if their reliability is suspect and I end up biting my nails every time I try to push these above stock then they aren't good overclockers. I'll overclock the next sticks I get and if they fail, then I'm looking for another brand.

BTW, the sticks were single sided.

I've never tried G. Skill but they seem to be very reliable and great overclockers. As for Team Xtreem, I think a lot of people here don't know the potential they have. Your guaranteed to get D9's if you purchase them at Tankguys.
