the flame just got bigger and bigger inside
And did anybody else notice the plumes of smoke coming out of the back, left side?

Hilarious... Did they buy a Wii or PS3?

Unfortunately no, it got so hot it melted the solder. It was pretty sad because we were looking forward to trying to use them for some other experiment possibly.

Ouch. Actually, we're a little bit older than that and it was our own microwave.

We've wondered about that...five or ten years in the future if we're going to be able to have kids. Just because we like sticking stuff in the microwave to see what happens does not mean we are horrible additions to the gene pool.

Between the 5 of us in the video, 4 of us have Wiis. If one of those broke and it cost a exorbitant amount of money to fix, we would probably microwave that too. We don't discriminate.
We don't have a PS3.

I'd be willing to bet that those arcs were occuring on the heat sink fins.

No way... if you zoom in, you can clearly see some sort of rod that created that "light show"... What's awesome is in the front of the microwave on the left, the metal seems to have soldered itself to the microwave floor...

In all honesty, the iPod was as useful before blending as afterwards.

If you put aluminum foil in the microwave in a accordian pattern, it will arc just like that video. That's what led me to believe it was the heat sinks.

That was a light from a laser printer. Without it, you couldn't see anything that was going on.

I'm pretty sure the heatsink never arced which was sad, even though it does have scorch marks on it. That may be from the bank of capacitors right behind it that caught fire.
