Click on "User CP" and you can fill out your signature and system specs. You could use that image for your avatar.

What kind of cooling do you have for the Q6600. We'll be able to help more once we know more about your system.

Overclocking to 3.0ghz on a q6600 is pretty simple. Go into the bios, and set the FSB to 333mhz, and set the multiplier to 9x if it isnt already. Boot back into windows, and run Prime95 for about 8-12 hours. Use Small FFTs. If a test fails, go back into the bios, and set the vcore at 1.250v, and try it again. If it doesnt work, bump up the voltage 1 level at a time until it is stable. Run coretemp .97 to see the temperatures. If when running prime95 the temperatures exceed 70C, stop the test. At that point it is running too hot, and should be backed off on the voltage or mhz.

Yes. If you want to get it up to 3.0ghz, you are going to need an after market cpu cooler.

I recommend the Arctic Cooling Freezer Pro 7 CPU Cooler or if you want to overclock maybe to even 3.5 or 3.6, get theThermalright Ultra 120. Either way you can't go wrong.

I have the Zalman CNPS9500A - IT IS HUGE

My case stays really cool. I even mounted a huge 120mm fan to the side that sucks the air out from the 9800gx2 I have..

That will definitely work.

If you have anymore questions about overclocking your CPU or even your video card, many of us can help you out. I just got done overclocking my cpu which is a q6600 as well to 2.8ghz with a stock cooler as well as overclocking my Video Card to 607/1333/847.

Just curious, what motherboard do you have?

I would say not all should be left in auto, some settings like voltage and ram timings alter to unstables settings sometimes. I think it depends on boards brands.

Otherwhise do the others recommend!!

Well it all depends on what your multiplier is. Go into your bios and check to see what the multiplier is. This formula is very important to remember.

Multiplier X FSB= CPU Speed

For example, my multiplier in my bios is 9 and my stock fsb is 266. My cpu stock core clock speed is 2400 (266 X 9=~2400). So go into your bios and check out what your multiplier is and your stock fsb. Don't change anything, just find out those two things. Come and post them and i will tell you what to do next.
