am i right?

Thread Starter
i am new to overclocking and i am just wondering if I am doing it correctly

my system is:

Motherboard: Asus A8N SLI Premium
CPU: Athlon 64 X2 4400+
RAM: Geil Ultra X DDR400

Default settings are multiplier x11 cpu freq 200mhz DDR 1:1 400mhz so CPU is running at around 2.2GHZ

OC:
I have multiplier on max x11 cpu freq 226mhz DDR 333

with that ^ my cpu is running at 2486.5mhz and is idle at 34C I still have room to increase my cpu freq before my RAM hits 400mhz

am i doing this right and should I just increase my cpu freq until my ram hits 400mhz or a bit past if it runs stable ?

I am also new to OCing but sounds about right.. if you want more ram freq, try lowering the multi and increasing the cpu freq a bit more.... remember the voltages.....

I havent messed with AMD based mobos before so i'd rather not partake in this for now, but i would like to urge you to fill in your system specs here, for the ease of everyone to view your system details and help you out!

P.S. Welcome to the forum

Should get 2.8 to 3GHz. If your load temps are below 55 to 60. I would push it to 3GHz right now. If unstable keep backing it down in increments.

3.0Ghz would be awesome but I am not sure i would be able to do it with DDR400 depends how much my RAM will overclock I think.

sounds a bit hot to me remember I think AMDs are a little factory O/C'd (I could be imagining things) 36C sounds a bit hot for Idle just make sure temps don't surpass 55C Full Load
