So true, it must be.

It doesn't look bad. RPG Shooters (besides Mass Effect) seem to have problems with graphics. Too much stuff, I guess.

By depth, ill try to explain

Looks at that FO3 shot.

The empty bullet shells (the bigger ones)

its hard to tell if there on the floor or in the air. There doesnt seem to be any shows or anything, you cant figure out how far away things are as well as oyu can in half life.

Theres are shadows and other things that make it look like it has more depth.

Its hard to explain

Theres no lighting. Everything is the same.
And why are things like the zombies shiny?

You're speaking of things (like shadows and bullets) that are likely more trivial aspects that can (and probably will be) polished by the time the game is released months from now. They aren't necessarily integral parts of the graphics engine. Just by looking at those screenshots, it appears obvious the graphics engine being used by Fallout 3 appears to be more complex and detailed than the Source (HL2) engine.

Yeh your probably right ^^

However being a new game (that isnt yet released) I would have expected the graphics, even if from a dev log to look fairly good and at least up to BioShock standards.

I just dont think that it looks brilliant. Im not expecting it to look like Crysis on V.High wise since i'd actually like to be able to play the game on highest settings smoothly, I just think it could look alot better.

Remeber the FO3 renders they put out of the whitehouse and places, I was honestly stunned by them and now I see this...

This game isn't meant to be as big as Oblivion in area/size wize so I would have thought the graphics would be up to par with new games

Bioshock
COD4
Crysis (DX9 on High)

The textures look bad, They look very low quality or maybe just low res. But they look bad and bland as well.

The zombie looks cool.

Give it a few months. It isn't scheduled for released until Q4 this year. And we all know how those dates get magically pushed out so often.... lol.
