Thread Starter
The system in my signature is choppy during games and sometimes slow in windows. I have multiple video driver reinstalls using driver cleaner pro. No overclocking done, Had a bit better success with driver 169.32 getting 11933 in 3dmark06 cpu idles around 40 celcius and the heatsyncs on board do not get hot ram gets warm. video doesnt get hot around 60ish on load. switched hard drives, this is a fresh xp install with sp2. I have tried everything I can think of The only thing I have not done is a memtest on the ram which I am going to do and the ram is running with .4 overvoltage and 1:1 setting. I have all latest drivers ready to throw this pc please help!!!!1

I don't think the problem would have to do with the motherboard but if it is it can only be because either your PCI-E ports aren't set at 16x or aren't running at 100 Mhz in your BIOS.

Otherwise, 11933 isn't a bad score as such for a stock 8800GT and the stutters might be loading stutters (I'm guessing here). Which games specifically?

Nrgx.

On my motherboard it has some settings in the bios<PCI-E for the vid card speed, like normal fast and faster........well when i set it to faster it shuders like you say , with certain drivers but runs fine on whql drivers fine. Idk maybe you have some settings like that you can try?

OK the pci x bus is running at 100 and 16 x and well 2 games hellgate london and bioshock are doing this most noticably but even command and conquer 3 is choppy at times I even decreased my resolution and increased. The result is the games dont pause as long when it is choppy but is more constant.....doing memtest now but I dont think it is the ram even though I have heard bad things about ballistix lately thinking of going with gskill ram but I dont know what to do next I also have xfx stumped on this

This might be out of left field...but Are any other background programs running during these "choppy" periods? Try shutting down all other programs and see if that helps.

Are you seeing the chop in ONLINE gameplay or in all gameplay. If it's pnly online, then your connection might be the guilty party.

Last - Do you run Norton? Just for kicks - disable Norton and see if the chop goes away. I know it has a HUGE footprint and might be tying up some of your resources.
